Be informed

The health and wellbeing of our students remains a priority and we would ask that we work together to be vigilant with respect to your child’s/children’s response to this ongoing situation. Children can have a range of emotional reactions during an event like this and, as always, the support of our Teachers, Pastoral Leaders and College Counsellor is available.

Practice Precaution

The COVID-19 virus is transmitted through droplets in the air from a cough or sneeze, like the flu and other respiratory diseases. Increased awareness and taking certain precautions are strongly advised.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, and after touching public surfaces. If this is not possible, then use a hand sanitiser gel.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze by using a tissue that you immediately throw into a bin or by covering your face with your elbow (bent arm) if no tissue is available. Do not cough or sneeze into the open air or into your hands. Wash your hands immediately afterwards.
  • If you or a family member are suffering from symptoms of illness, including but not limited to coughing, sneezing, runny nose or fever, remain home and see a doctor.

Family trips

  • The Australian Government is continually monitoring the situation and updating its response, including announcing new measures that specifically address travel restrictions to and from other countries.
  • If you are planning holidays, please refer to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade DFAT website for further information regarding travel restrictions. This site is updated regularly.

  • The Qld government has issued a number of Directives in relation to travel restrictions. The College’s general policy is that any person travelling from interstate (or overseas) is to not come onto campus for 14 days. This policy is established for the wellbeing and safety of our community and applies regardless of any exemption or permits issued by the Government. This applies to all persons including current staff and students and includes all travel outside Queensland and not restricted to COVID hot spots.

  • A student or staff member may seek an exemption from the 14-day isolation period if the student or staff member:
    • has travelled from an area not classified as a hot spot
    • is not displaying any symptoms
    • has a medical clearance.
  • The student or staff member must apply in writing to the Head of College outlining their situation and the request will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
