Sport at Moreton Bay College

Moreton Bay College aims to inspire and empower our students to explore a diverse range of sports and activities. Regardless of experience or performance level, our students have the opportunity to participate, challenge themselves, achieve and have fun.  

MBC students have the opportunity to participate in a wide array of sports in multiple competitions and associations throughout the year. School spirit is strong at Moreton Bay College and teams compete against other independent schools, giving girls an appreciation that their effort can make all the difference to team achievement.

Queensland Girls Secondary School Sports Association

Moreton Bay College is a member school of the Queensland Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA). QGSSSA offers a wide range of Sports and aims to provide member schools with opportunities to equip young women to meet and enjoy life’s challenges. To achieve this aim, the Association seeks to provide quality sporting opportunities and social interaction within a sports environment, which balances performance, participation, tradition, and innovation.

Andrews Cup (Years 2-6)

Andrews Cup (Years 2-6)

The Andrews Cup Association encourages and facilitates healthy competition in carnival style competitions. Opportunities are offered to girls ranging from Year Two (core sports only) to Year Six where they are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of team sports. Andrews Cup aims to foster a love of sport, a lifelong interest in sport and a continued involvement in sport and healthy living well beyond school.

In 2022, Moreton Bay College became the first Australian school to become accredited with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS). The WAoS delivers learning programmes for sports and event participants through a series of tailored educational programmes.

Athlete Development Programme

Through our affiliation with the World Academy of Sport, Moreton Bay College has established an Athlete Development Programme (ADP) to support high performing student-athletes in achieving their sporting and academic goals in a supportive educational environment. Our aim is to develop confident, independent, resilient, and courageous students whilst nurturing their physical talents. The ADP supports students in tailoring their academic needs and prepares athletes with the skills and knowledge for the demands of high-performance sport.

Scholarships

Scholarships

Sporting excellence scholarships are offered to students entering Year 7 and above, who excel in Sport and are able to demonstrate consistent and sound academic achievement and excellent conduct. Sport scholarships represent up to 50% remission in tuition fees. Please refer to the website for more information.
